The Indiana Hoosiers women’s basketball team comes into this game at 6-0. Here’s what we can expect.

What can we expect from IU?

The Indiana Hoosiers women’s basketball team is 6-0. That is a great start to their 2018 campaign. Sunday they will travel to Southern California to take on the 3-4 UCLA Bruins. Looking to become 7-0 will be an important achievement for IU, as they try and extend their winning streak to start their season.

We can expect Ali Patberg to build upon her 30 point outing against Wake Forest. She has been an outstanding addition to the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team this season. Her basketball pedigree as Miss Indiana Basketball has transferred over into her college career. She has been a big time player for this team.

She’s not the only one. Jaelynn Penn and Brenna Wise have also helped carry this team to a 6-0 record. This team has beaten some really good opponents this season and Sunday in Southern California should be no different. Expect all three to make game changing plays in this one.

What can we expect from UCLA?

UCLA lacks consistency. After winning three games in a row, they have dropped the last three to North Carolina, Kentucky and South Florida. We will see which team shows up against our Hoosiers Sunday. We can expect UCLA to struggle to contain our playmakers all game long.

Losing to North Carolina and Kentucky is understandable. But losses to LMU and South Florida shows us this team isn’t ready for the big stage. Playing against an undefeated IU team will be a lot of pressure. Can they handle Patberg, Penn and Wise? We don’t think they will and we can expect a big road win for our Hoosiers.

UCLA is in for a world of hurt Sunday. Wise transferring over from the University of Pittsburgh was their leading scorer before coming to the Hoosier State. Patberg also a transfer from Notre Dame racked up over 2,000 total points before playing college ball. We think these two are special players who have done well to fill the void of Tyra Buss who led IU to a WNIT Championship last season.

Prediction

IU: 85   UCLA: 67
