What did we learn out of the Hoosiers today in their gritty close win against Northwestern?

The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team had their first Big Ten matchup against the Northwestern Wildcats. Here are a few things we observed from today’s Big Ten matchup.

The Hoosiers had to show their resolve in this one as the Wildcats gave IU their best shot. Romeo Langford once again led the Hoosiers in points with 20, adding one assist, five rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Langford hit a big shot with .41 seconds to go and then came away with a crucial steal with .32 seconds that lead to a layup by Justin Smith.

Juwan Morgan came up huge today for the Hoosiers on the boards. His 17 points, 12 rebounds and team leading three assists helped the Hoosiers to this much needed conference win. With his leadership and presence on this team we can win any game. He has come through once again in this game for his team.

Indiana shot 55% from the field making 27/49 field goals. They shot horribly from the the 3-point line today. Making only 3/11 attempts. They struggled at the charity stripe today as well completing only 58% making 11/19 attempts. Going forward this team needs to rebound in 3-point attempts and free shows if they want to beat the better Big Ten teams this season.

Overall this was a good test for this IU team. We needed to see how they would play after a big loss to Duke. We needed to see how they would respond in critical game-time situations. The results came out in our favor today. Let’s hope they make improvements before they travel to Penn State December 4th. They will want to start stacking conference wins against the weaker Big Ten teams before playing Michigan January 6th.

Up next for IU is the Penn State Nittany Lions on Tuesday December 4th.
