Indiana Recruiting: Hoosiers offer class of 2018 four-star recruit Brandon Johns
By Jordan Maly
The Indiana Hoosiers, while focused on the upcoming season, are hot on the recruiting trail for 2018 and beyond. The Hoosiers offered four-star recruit Brandon Johns this weekend.
Brandon Johns, the No. 53 player in the class of 2018, was offered a scholarship to attend Indiana over the weekend. Johns took an unofficial visit this weekend to campus where the coaching staff offered the forward a chance to play for the Hoosiers.
Brandon Johns is a 6-8 forward from East Lansing, Michigan entering his senior season. The No. 53 player in the country according to 247Sports has been offered a scholarship by a variety of other schools including Alabama, Michigan State, Iowa and Michigan.
This would be an interesting get for Archie Miller in his first full season of recruiting at Indiana. A player from East Lansing automatically draws attention from Tom Izzo at Michigan State. While Miller stated that his focus is on recruiting inside the state, the familiarity with players from surrounding states could help.
Brandon Johns has played in 16 games in the Nike EYBL this season averaging 12.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 25-minutes per game. His current Nike EYBL team, the Speice Indy Heat, has had former Indiana Hoosiers including James Blackmon Jr. play for their squad. It will be interesting to see if Archie Miller and his staff can pry this recruit from the other two Big Ten schools in Michigan.
