Indiana Football: Tevin Coleman Finishes 7th in Heisman Voting
By Kyle Grand
The results are in, and by now you know that Oregon’s Marcus Mariota took home the Heisman Trophy, but Indiana running back Tevin Coleman picked up some votes himself. The All-American finished seventh in the voting, with 44 total votes. Here’s a breakdown of the voting.

Well at least two people knew what they were doing. Am I right? In all seriousness though, Mariota totally deserved to win and certainly by a large amount. He was undoubtedly college football’s best and most outstanding player.
But Coleman, in my opinion, should have been higher. I know I’ve lauded the Hoosier runner over and over, but he earned it. Coleman ran for more than 2,000 yards and scored 15 touchdowns, and did all of this without his starting QB and defenses constantly focusing on him. Realistically, I think Coleman easily could have been fifth. Boykin was the motor behind TCU’s electric offense and Winston still hasn’t lost a game, but I’ll still say that what Coleman did this year was more impressive.
But, at the end of the day, it’s still a great accomplishment and recognition for an Indiana football program that rarely gets any.
