Indiana Basketball: Hoosiers should look into Yor Anei

The Oklahoma State Cowboys were recently handed a postseason ban for the 2020-21 season and it is already having effects on the team and could have more in the future. They are bringing in the number one recruit in the country in Cade Cunningham, but it is possible for him to look elsewhere now.

While Cunningham’s status is still in question, Yor Anei’s is not. Anei entered the transfer portal this week and is someone that the Hoosiers could definitely use.

Yes, we have highlighted a lot of transfers this offseason and some have been a big stretch. Others have not been a stretch but a longshot for the Hoosiers to actually land them. But through it all the Hoosiers have seemed to stay out of the picture for every one of them.

But Anei is one the Hoosiers really should go after. He is a center that has proven himself in the Big 12. He has been one of the best shot-blockers in that conference during his two years at OK State. He hasn’t put up big numbers scoring but is a force down low.

The Hoosiers need scoring but they also need depth in the frontcourt and this is exactly what Anei would give them. Plus he is eligible right away with two years to play. This again would give the Hoosier some size and depth and bridge the gap until Indiana brings in Logan Duncomb in the 2021 class.

Indiana should absolutely take a run at Anei and pitch playing next to Jackson-Davis. His defensive capability would be huge for the Hoosiers in the rough Big Ten.

The pluses of getting Anei outweigh any risks in getting him plus it fills a scholarship without tying it up for four years. Miller needs to make a move and get this big guy.
