1. James Blackmon Jr 41.5% 3pt, 6.5 attempts (career)
Maybe you didn’t expect James Blackmon Jr. to top this list, but when you look at the numbers it is undeniable.
Blackmon walked into Bloomington as a 15.7 points per game guy, and half his offense came from threes. Over the course of his three-year career as a Hoosier, Blackmon attempted 6.5 threes per game on a 41.5% average conversion rate. His sophomore season was his sweetest shooting season, as he managed to hit 46.3% of his 6.2 attempts per game.
Blackmon was not just a shooter — he was a scorer. However, he did much of his work as a scorer from behind the three-point line. He could hit a variety of off-dribble shots in addition to being a lights-out catch-and-shoot guy. He also used his marksmanship to create opportunities to drive to the rim, creating several highlight dunks by first getting by his defender with an astute pump-fake.
The volume of his shooting, his versatility, his point totals, and his efficiency make Blackmon the number one shooter for Indiana Basketball in the 21st century.
