Indiana Football: Ranking Hoosiers games for 2020 season
By Adam Childs
12. @ UConn – Week 4
To put it bluntly, UConn is bad, really bad. The Huskies won just two games last year, to FCS Wagner and UMass who was equally as bad. The Hoosiers beat UConn 38-3 in week three last year and it wasn’t even that close.
Their matchup next year shouldn’t be much different. The Huskies don’t recruit well, they don’t have very many skilled players and they have no football identity right now. This game is the last before the bye week and will hopefully be at least the Hoosiers third win of the year. This game shouldn’t be much to watch and therefore is the worst game on IU’s schedule.
11. vs Ball State – Week 3
This will be the third straight year the Hoosiers take on Ball State and the only reason this game is not ranked last is due to the fact that it is an in-state game and has a little more meaning. Even with that, this game shouldn’t be much of a game. The Cardinals did play the Hoosiers tough in 2019 but that was before Indiana really found an identity and started playing better. This game will be good to watch only if you want to see the Hoosiers rack up some offensive numbers, otherwise, there will be very little entertainment value.
10. vs Western Kentucky – Week 2
This will be Indiana’s first non-conference game since they open the season with a conference game against Wisconsin. This should also be the toughest of the three non-conference games for the Hoosiers. To say the out of conference schedule is weak would be an understatement, but at least the Hilltoppers had a winning record last year.
Western Kentucky went 9-4 last year, but didn’t beat anybody good and lost to Georgia State in their bowl game. They should pose more of a threat to the Hoosiers, but this still should be a win for Indiana.
