Hoosier Hysteria gave fans their first new look at Indiana basketball redshirt freshman Jerome Hunter and he did not disappoint.

While Archie Miller and Calbert Cheaney received great ovations on Saturday at Indiana basketball’s Hoosier Hysteria, the biggest may have come for someone who may have the biggest question mark surrounding his future in Bloomington.

Making his debut at the same event last season, that was all the action Jerome Hunter would see in the 2018-19 season, and many thought possibly for his entire career. Now, Hunter brings hope and opportunity to a team and program that is looking to reinvent itself.

More from Indiana Basketball

It was not long ago that Hunter was a top-60 recruit in the 2018 recruiting class and was expected to be a crucial part of the Indiana season and future, but all of that came into question as he missed the entire season with a leg condition.

What has he done since? Everything the coaches, doctors, family, teammates, and fans could ask for; remained a part of Hoosier Nation and kept working his way back to have the moment he deserves.

On Saturday, we got that moment as Hunter participated in all of the events and flashed signs of the four-star recruit that got fans so excited.

His biggest value is his versatility and he showed that in the scrimmage as he scored four points, one off of a floater, and the other on a nice turnaround bank shot in the post, helping lead his team to a 15-9 win in the ‘Cream vs Crimson’ intrasquad scrimmage.

Despite not having everyone playing in the scrimmage, Hunter gave fans the excitement and hope they were seeking.
