Soooo Central Connecticut State…..

Today’s matchup between #1 Indiana and Central Connecticut State isn’t exactly a blockbuster, but Hoosier Nation has waited a full week to see their squad in action, so there will be some anticipation for this one. They’ll have to savor this one because the Hoosiers won’t play for another full week after today’s matchup either, when they face-off against in-state rival Butler on December 15th.

There’s not much to talk about in this one as the Hoosiers are more than likely to put this one out of reach early. However, Central Connecticut State does feature the nation’s leading scorer, standout guard Kyle Vinales, who averages 25.9 points per game. So at least fans can look forward to seeing some good one-on-one matchups as the Hoosiers will focus on stifling Vinales.

Aside from that, the most interesting story line in this game is that Central Connecticut State shares the same mascot as Duke, a team that many believe are deserving of Indiana’s #1 spot in the AP rankings. I wouldn’t expect the Blue Devils to look anything like the Dukies today, but hey, I guess you never know. Since we’re really reaching for story lines at this point, I’m just going to change the subject.

Although winters in Indiana are reserved for basketball, there’s also this thing called ‘Christmas’ in December. Basically, it’s an excuse to decorate your house in red and white lights and eat these things called ‘candy canes’ that are fashioned in the design of the Hoosier’s infamous candy striped warmups. One member of Hoosier Nation took their commitment to the next level by synching their holiday lights to audio of Christian Watford’s buzzer-beat against Kentucky last year. It’s really something to see so check out the link.

In 49 states it’s just a sport called basketball, but this is Indiana. It’s Indiana.

Enjoy the game. Go Hoosiers.
